Innovative New DS Control Scheme
WWE Smackdown vs. Raw 2009 features a whole new control scheme to deliver a fun, innovative way to play that incorporates both the D-pad and stylus for unprecedented control. Doing different moves, for example, requires holding the D-pad in a direction and drawing a shape with the stylus. You'll be able to pull off an amazing array of wrestling maneuvers, and execute all the finishing moves of your favorite WWE wrestlers.
Play as Your Favorite Wrestlers, or Create Your Own
WWE Smackdown vs. Raw 2009 features an expanded roster so you can play as even more of your favorite wrestlers, and do all their signature moves. User Reviews about WWE Smackdown vs Raw 2009
In this fun, action packed game, you can create a wrestler using pretty limitless combinations, then use him or any other wrestler in a season mode that is very satisfying. The only drawback is the move limitations, but otherwise the game is great. -- Amazing Game
I got very frustrated with this game the first night I played it. You have to use the directional pad and stylus to do moves, whereas in the 2008 version you only used the stylus. This was a little difficult to get used to, but I pretty much had it down pat by the second day.
Two things that I really like about this game is the new create-a-wrestler feature and the new season mode. Create-a-wrestler was a great new addition - enough said, and the best thing about season mode is you don't have to go through lockers, filing cabinets, trash baskets, etc. in order to find little time coins so you can work out like in S vs. R 2008. In this year's version you simply go to the gym, altough you can only do it once per week, and choose between doing bench press, squats, or dumbell shrugs.
The graphics in this game are quite a bit better than last year, and I was very glad to see match types such as the ladder match and the cage match on the DS.
My only big gripe with the game right now is that I have been doing season mode with Randy Orton, and it has gotten pretty repepitive using the same wrestler for all the matches. Im not a pro at this game yet, and there are probably a few moves that I haven't figured out how to do, but I feel like Ive basically been wrestling the same match time and time again, and I havent achieved a whole lot yet. Im sure things will get more interesting once I start wrestling for the titles though.
Also, I would recommend that the first thing you do is go through the training to get an idea of how to do the moves, and then wrestle in a few exhibition matches before starting season mode. I started the season mode too soon and I ended up losing to Bob Holly about 25 times. -- Overall, better than last year's game
