User Reviews about Trauma Center: Under the Knife 2
My 14 year old granddaughter was recovering from two major surgeries and found this game to be great entertainment. Thank you so much. -- Post-op granddaughter
The original Trauma Center: Under the Knife was a fun, wacky medical drama that was hurt by its immense difficulty level. The concept was great, but unless you were either very skilled or willing to go through a given level many times over in order to finally beat it, it was a hard game to finish. As its most obvious improvement (well, second most obvious, the first being an improvement in the art), Trauma Center: Under the Knife 2 has three difficulty levels: Easy, which will challenge most casual gamers, Normal, which is about as difficult as the original game, and Hard, which is best reserved for master players. That simple improvement makes the game better than the original right off the bat.
The story follows up a few years after the first one, with Derek Stiles and Angie Thompson traveling the world after they helped defeat the medical terrorist organization known as Delphi in the previous game. GUILT returns soon, though, and they find themselves thrown into a new adventure. The game is heavy on melodrama and has a lot more going on plot-wise than in the first game - possibly to its detriment, since you have to go through three or four different "boss" characters before sorting through all the threads. Nonetheless, it is great for those who like that sort of thing and is completely unashamed of its soap-opera style of approach. The game does still get a little repetitive in places, particularly the final boss which is a rehash of most of the cases you've gone through rather than a totally new enemy like the first game had. However, its flaws are easily overlooked, and its high points shine brightly. If you were a fan of the first game, you'll love this one. If you quit the first game out of frustration, try the improved sequel. And if you're totally new to the franchise, get ready for a medical drama like no other. -- An improvement on an already excellent game
