User Reviews about Spider-Man: Web of Shadows
Spider-Man Web of Shadows is, well, pretty spectacular! You play as Spidey and battle symbiote monsters in New York. The twist? Depending on which decisions you make, the ending varies. (Personally, I got the black-suit ending)
Gameplay:
As usual for a Spider-Man game, the gameplay for this game is over the top. Though not touch-screen-oriented, the controls are smooth, and the special attacks add some variety to this beat-'em-up game. The boss fights, being the strongest point of the game, will probably take up more time than anything else. My rating- *****
Story:
It seems that the DS version's story isn't as good as the story on other consoles, but the parts that are in the game are still pretty cool. Expect some surprises before you finish this game completely! My rating- ***^ (3 and a half stars)
Graphics and Sound:
The graphics are not only nifty, but also intricate; you can pretty much tell which character is which. Also, the game flows nicely. The music isn't that great, and the sound effects are average. The voice acting is pretty good. My rating- ***^
Cons:
*The touch screen revive game is extremely annoying.
*Otherwise, the touch screen isn't used much.
*Your lives aren't completely restored upon reaching a check-point. Thus, right before the final battle, you must find a live-increase, unless you want the final boss to be REALLY hard.
Note:
When you beat the game, you are given the option to restart, but with your current upgrades, thus giving you a chance to experience a different ending.
Overall:
Spider-Man Web of Shadows is a really great game- certainly one of the best in the franchise. Can't wait to see what Spider-Man Shattered Dimensions will be like!
-- Really neat Spidey game...
Well I started the game and I really liked it, but then it got boring; through out the entire game you never leave one place, plus the fighting scenes are very hard (almost impossible). But overall it's a pretty fun game, especially the touch screen mini games. I only recommend this game to kids 12 and over. -- Not as good as I had hoped.
I'm a 26 year old man, and I sincerely enjoyed this game. The gameplay is very similar to a Super nintendo type Spider-man game, but much more fun. It's pretty short, and it basically quadruples in difficulty toward the end of the game. -- Fun game for DS
Fun game, good controls, kinda short (~5 hours of gameplay to finish, total 7 hours to get +90%). -- Short but entertaining
Spider-Man has had a pretty good track record on the DS thus far, and Spider-Man: Web of Shadows is no different. Using the same formula of 3-D character models on a 2-D side scrolling plane that the last few Spidey games on the DS have, Web of Shadows is a solid and fun, albeit short, ride that is fun while it lasts. Symbiotes have taken over New York City, and naturally it's up to Spidey to take 'em all down. You have the ability to play in either the classic costume or the black suit, which makes Spidey more powerful. The game looks good and sounds great, and is simple enough for anyone to pick up and play. The flaws of Web of Shadows on the DS are, as said before, that the game is quite short, so short in fact that you could easily finish it in one sitting. There's also a little bit of backtracking involved that dulls down the gameplay, but as a whole, the game is a more than solid offering. All in all, if you own a DS and are a Spidey fan, Spider-Man: Web of Shadows is most definitely worth checking out. -- Another good Spidey offering on the DS
