Spider-Man 3
Spiderman 3 DS
Spider-Man 3 Features
- Utilizing an in-depth "hero points" reward system, players can fully customize and upgrade Spider-Man maximizing his powers and abilities.
- Maximizing the capabilities of the Nintendo DS, players will experience Spider-Man's unique abilities as never before by controlling both red-suited and black-suited Spider-Man's movement and combat with a multitude of organic touch screen gestures and motions.
- In a unique mixture of open-ended gameplay and linear story progression, players can traverse and protect massive, wide open sections of New York City, battle villains from the feature film, or embark on a variety of original story arcs in whatever order they choose when they choose.
- For the first time ever, control the legendary symbiotic Black Suit, which magnifies Spider-Man's strength, agility, durability and web powers, but the power comes at a price. The longer gamers play as black suited Spider-Man, the more they risk losing the good in him.
User Reviews about Spider-Man 3
I got this game because of previous thrills playing other Spider Man games, and this one is no disappointment.
Controls:
The controls are confusing and occasionally not responsive, but they're some of the most creative I've seen for the DS. Very few games make good use of the touch screen, but this one was a success on this factor. Overall Rating- *****
Gameplay:
The gameplay is simply beat up bad guys and bosses. It takes a lot of beating up baddies to get sick of it, but they could have done a better job on the boss fights. Rather than having the bosses perform different attacks, forcing you to counter and retaliate, figuring out the boss's weakness, like in Spider Man Friend or Foe, you simply find some kind of thing, like smoke, and force the villain to come in contact with it. I haven't done very many of the boss fights, though, so don't blame me if they suddenly get better in the middle of the game. The only other complaint is that the factor of which enemies appear seems random. This way not sound like much, but it's actually a big deal since some enemies are a LOT stronger than others. However, the black suit's rage meter is a nice addition. Overall Rating- ***
Storyline:
The story of the movie is always too small to cram into a video game, so extensions always have to be added, but they actually make it pretty neat. In between boss fights, you aid DeWolfe by stopping gangs from doing stuff like taking over chemical factories. Also, when an important part of the story arises, it is sometimes told in newspaper form, where it shows pictures from the newspaper as the characters talk. Overall Rating- ****
Graphics and Sound:
The graphics are pretty good for a DS game, although the small size of characters makes it somewhat hard to tell who or what they are. The music is average, nothing you want to hea over and over again, but also nothing that forces you to turn it off. It seems like most think that Tobey (the guy who plays Spider Man in the movies) voicing as his same role in the game is a huge deal, but for the most part, it sounds like he is really, really, bored. Plus, I usually can't hear what he is even saying, mumbling some lame joke, apparently. Overall Rating- ***
In conclusion, this game is a great buy for enjoyment in between releases of the real wonders, but don't expect anything legendary. Final Overall Rating- **** -- Surprisingly good for a game based off of a movie
This game is awesome! I actually can't wait to load the game and just swing around the city. Oh, yeah, I play the game some too. I've just gotten it so I haven't gotten to any of the hard levels yet so I'm listening to everyone on msg boards and seeing whats coming up next. I got bored with Spiderman 2 right during the training session for the psp but this one seems to start out right away as it should and Bruce Campbell's satiric wit are back and I for one am glad. The game is a different experience (and NOT for the better) w/o him narrating. The Spiderman 2 narration for the psp just lacked that comic timing...and the controls weren't as easy to get used to either. I don't get games that often..I am so Glad! that I got this one. -- SpiderMan 3-finally got it right!
I find this game a little to fast for me, I was used to Spiderman 2 and Spidy 3 is a good push to add more content and make more plot points, as well as explore New York, which I have always loved freeroam enviroments. Still a little to fast, the character is harder to control and get him to do what you want when you want him too, it takes a bit of luck off the start but overall a good game. Personally, you might as well (unless you're a collector like myself) go ahead and skip this one and get Web of Shadows, just as much fun and overall a better story in my book. Still the game is better than the movie (I'm sorry to say).
Thanks for reading. -- A good game.
It was exactly what I wanted. It took me awhile to get used to but after all I got pretty good. -- Awesome game...
It was a great gift for a teen. He really seemed to enjoy playing it. -- Spiderman 3
