User Reviews about Hotel Dusk: Room 215

THIS GAME COULD BE A GOOD GAME IF IT WERE EASIER TO FIGURE OUT WHAT TO DO. THE INSTRUCTIONS DON'T GIVE YOU ANY HINTS TO HELP YOU GET UNSTUCK IN CERTAIN AREAS. PLEASE INCLUDE MORE HELPFUL HINTS. -- HARD TO FIGURE OUT
If you love a good mystery story and have a DS, then you should have this game. With an unassuming title and a boring cover, the game can be easily overlooked if you are browsing for games in a DS games' shelf. But once you start playing, it just gets you hooked. There are lots of interesting puzzles but the best part is that each puzzle is interlinked with the story. There are different characters and each character's past is somehow connected to Hotel Dusk. You play the main character of Kyle Hyde a former cop who unwittingly begins to unravel the characters' past and their connection to Hotel Dusk. At the same time Kyle is trying to figure out why he has been asked to come to this Hotel to 'pick' up stuff. As the story unfolds you get a few surprises and the ending is also quite interesting. I do not want to spoil the fun any more but one thing I should mention here is how different and well-developed each character is. They are more real-life than cardboard caricatures. The dialogues are also quite well-written. On the whole, it is great fun and will keep you glued to your DS for hours. -- Absolute fun!
When I first played this game, I felt like I was more than playing. Instead I believed I was reading a novel. And a pretty great one.

Love to see how the whole action of the game is set inside the Hotel. For each chapter which concerns a certain time period, you have to deal with the residents of the hotel and uncover both their mysteries and secrets. To do that, you use clues and a great deal of interrogating, though the questions you ask them can have important consequences, meaning that a wrong question or answer can give you a game over.

Fortunately, you have a notebook in which you can save your game. You can also write down, clues, details, and things that you need to do. The re is also a jukebox in the bar, with which you can listen to the game's soundtrack for free. SO if you are the kind of player who loves playing his music while working or studying, I suggest you make a separate save game wherever you are in this room. However there will be certain tracks that will only be available in your second playthrough as they will be in the final chapter.

Speaking of final chapter, I also want to say that if you do the game and certain actions, then there will be a special character at the end, whose face will be entirely revealed. Though I will not say who it is to make sure that I do not spoil you the story with my review.

I also heard there is a sequel coming out in Japan. Though it is only the main character who will be there and a story not involved with Hotel Dusk. Just like James Bond in his movies. -- Excellent interactive mystery novel!
If I had wanted to read a story, I would have bought a book. It is dialogue tedious. I will say, the story is a great story and the characters are great, but as a "game", not so much. Of all my games, this is my least favorite and I will not play it again. -- Not very Interactive
